Dear Carefree Quail Community,
I love telling stories, especially about people I have come to admire and look up to for wisdom and knowledge. I am in the process of collecting information from Jayton Rasmussen, the Lead Manager at The Mount Olympus Brewery in the Tumwater Craft District, so that I can paint the picture of the many amazing people I find myself surrounded by as we navigate our baby business. On top of this, I now am collecting all the visiting vendors for our monthly Maker’s Market (every second Thursday, 4-8pm) and still in the studio creating new fun products on a weekly basis. I am never bored!
So, all this to say…be on the lookout for the up coming articles, highlighting businesses and their staff. Next Month, Jayton!!
Until then, here’s a little giggle in memory of my late sister Merry. Enjoy!!
Because Merry and I were so close in age (12 months and a few days) we were more like twins than siblings. I never felt like I was old enough to be considered and older sibling with so much experience to share. No, we experienced everything together and were peers all through life.
When we were in elementary school, I will never forget the very informative “secret” she had to share in the privacy of our newly created bedroom from the remodeling of the old garage. After school one fall day, she pulled out a history book from school and proceeded to convince me (her older sister) of all the reasons she had to believe that mom and dad came to America on the ship named the Mayflower.
Because I respected her knowledge, it became very clear as to why our parents were soooo much older than our school age friends parents. Why my parents were so wrinkled, old fashioned in their attire, and why they were always sooo tired. It all made sense.
But in the end, we both realized they didn’t actually come over on the Mayflower because they met on a blind date at the zoo. Which in retrospect, explains a lot of other things!
Thank you Merry for being my cohort in life and teaching me so much. I miss you and will never forget the gift it was to to have an almost twin.
Thanks
Lois
